The Charlotte 49ers have struck a partnership with CW 46 WJZY to bring broadcasts of upcoming Atlantic 10 conference  men’s basketball road games at George Washington and Butler into the Charlotte market.

“We’re excited to be able to make these games available to our fan base,” said Judy Rose, 49ers director of athletics.  “We are pleased that WJZY was willing to work with us to make this happen and truly appreciate their partnership.”

Shawn Harris, vice president and general manager of CW 46 was equally enthusiastic about broadcasting local college basketball on his station. He noted the local community looks to CW46 and My TV12 to watch great college basketball. “With the addition of these Charlotte 49ers games we are taking that to the next level.  And unlike cable sports channels these games will be available over the air for free to every single home in the 22-county Charlotte TV market. The winners are the viewers.”

The Jan. 26 game at George Washington at 2 p.m. is being broadcast by Comcast Sportsnet.  The 49ers have worked with CW 46 WJZY to bring that broadcast back to Charlotte.  It will air locally on CW 46 WJZY TV.

The 7 p.m., Feb. 13, game at Butler is being broadcast on WISH TV/WNDY in Indianapolis.  The 49ers and CW46 WJZY also worked to make that game available to fans in the Charlotte market.  It will air on Antenna TV on WJZY 46.2.  Antenna TV can be found on Time Warner Cable 147 or 46.2. Antenna TV is available on Comporium (120), Charter (80), SkyBest (262), ComPas (143), ComPas Morganton (113) and RST Fiber (8).

These road game telecasts complement a schedule that has seen the 49ers appear on national TV five times during the nonconference season in addition to other regional broadcasts and a pair of ESPN3 broadcasts.
