Thursday, November 29, 2012

UNC Charlotte will host the Charlotte Observer’s inaugural “Solving It Together” forum from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30. PNC Bank also is an event co-sponsor.

The public is invited to join in this special discussion to be held at UNC Charlotte Center City. A brief reception will follow.

According to organizers, the goal for the evening is to engage in an open, constructive conversation about how elected leaders with political differences can find common ground.

Former members of Congress and others who have built bridges and coalitions in Washington will participate, including Jim Martin, former North Carolina governor and congressman; former U.S. Rep. John Spratt; and Kimrey Rhinehart, a UNC vice president and former top aide to U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.

Current members of Congress, including Mel Watt, Patrick McHenry and Mick Mulvaney also will participate.

The moderator for the evening is WCNC-TV’s Sonja Gantt.

Seating for this event is limited; prospective attendees can register online.
