Campus Sustainability Week set for Oct. 29-Nov. 2

UNC Charlotte will celebrate Campus Sustainability Week from Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2. Organizers have planned activities throughout the week that provide opportunities for participants to learn about efforts being made to keep the campus greener and how members of the campus community can help.

Campus Sustainability Week events are free; the schedule includes:

  • Travel Green Information Fair – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30. Includes a bike repair/information booth, details on how to register bikes with the Police and Public Safety Department and information on on-campus shuttles, CATS routes and Hertz Connect cars
  • Campus Cleanup – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, Belk Tower and CHHS Plaza
  • Tour of EPIC, a LEED Gold certified building – 2 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1-2. Participants can learn about the innovative energy- and water-saving initiatives, along with the LEED program. Space is limited, click here to email RSVPs
  • Climate Action Plan Presentation – 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 2, Cone University Center, Room 112. UNC Charlotte’s sustainability coordinator will outline this first plan aimed at reducing the campus’ greenhouse gas emissions

Facilities Management’s Office of Sustainability and Recycling Office, along with the Office of Parking and Transportation Services, UNC Charlotte Cyclists, the Police and Public Safety Department and CATS and cosponsoring Campus Sustainability Week.
