Staff Council’s annual Fall Festival set for Oct. 9

Monday, September 24, 2012

The UNC Charlotte Staff Council will hold its annual Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.

Free food and beverages, along with three contests, will be featured at this yearly event. Also, there will be opportunities to win prizes, and attendees are encouraged to bring a donation in support of the Florence Crittenton Services of North Carolina.

“We are excited to be part of the planning for this year’s Fall Festival,” said organizing co-chairs Celeste Corpening, ITS, and Lolita Rowe, Atkins Library. “We hope everyone will mark their calendars and come out for this day of fun and fellowship with their fellow coworkers. This year, we will hold a bake-off challenge and photography and dance contests, so it’s a chance for employees to showcase their talents. The deadline to enter one of the contests is Friday, Oct. 5.”

Corpening and Rowe added that Charlotte-area companies have donated items for prizes, including gift cards from Outback Steakhouse and Texas Land and Cattle; AAA memberships; and tickets to NASCAR, Discovery Place and the Levine Museum.  Attendees who bring a donation in support of the Florence Crittenton Services of North Carolina will have a chance to win one of the above prizes.

The Florence Crittenton Services of North Carolina, founded in 1903, helps at-risk girls and women by providing comprehensive medical and prenatal care; social, educational, adoption and parenting services; and substance abuse intervention, treatment and prevention. Items sought include body wash, deodorant, disposable razors, bath towels, maternity clothing, sheets, pillowcases, gift and gas cards, baby bottles, baby clothing, wipes, pacifiers, photo albums and disposable cameras.
