Presidential historian to speak on campus

Noted historian Michael Beschloss will discuss presidential courage at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Student Union, Multipurpose Room.

Beschloss, called the “nation’s leading presidential historian” by Newsweek is the author of nine books on American presidents. He also is the presidential historian for NBC News and a contributor to PBS’s “NewsHour.” In 2011, he co-authored with Caroline Kennedy the New York Times best seller “Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy.”

Born in Chicago in 1955, Beschloss is an alumnus of Williams College and has an advanced degree from the Harvard Business School.  He has been an historian on the staff of the Smithsonian Institution (1982-86), a senior associate member at Oxford University (1986-87) and a senior fellow of the Annenberg Foundation in Washington, D.C. (1988-96).

“Presidential Courage: An Afternoon with Michael Beschloss” is being sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor. A question-and-answer session follows the talk, which is free but tickets are required for admission.
