Assistant Professor of Trombone Jeremy Marks will present a Faculty & Friends Concert on Tuesday, Jan. 15, in Rowe Recital Hall. Performing on tenor and bass trombones, Marks will be joined by pianist Nia Imani Williams Reyes; UNC Charlotte brass faculty Eric Millard (trumpet), Christopher Griffin (French horn) and Doug Black (tuba); and Winthrop University trombone professor Justin Isenhour.
Marks, who joined the University in fall 2018, held faculty positions at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He completed a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin.
The Jan. 15 concert will feature contemporary programmatic music that evokes moods, settings and circumstances. Program selections include Elizabeth Raum’s “Relationships,” Kevin McKee’s “Winter’s Night,” Steven Verhelst’s “Song for Japan,” Lawrence Borden’s “Conditions of a Solitary Bird” and Eric Ewazen’s “Pastorale.”
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $8 for seniors, students, and UNC Charlotte faculty and staff.
One hour prior to the concert, Rowe Gallery will be open for the final presentation of “A New Mark,” an exhibition of drawings by Jessica Burke (JB) and Anna Kenar, art professors at UNC Charlotte, and Jason Watson, art professor at Central Piedmont Community College.
