2018 University Convocation scheduled

Event Date:
August 16, 2018 - 8:30 AM
Location:
Cone University Center, McKnight Hall

Traditionally the start of the academic year, University Convocation is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, in Cone University Center, McKnight Hall. This annual event is an opportunity for the campus community to learn more about the University’s short- and long-term goals and plans.

Preceding University Convocation, there will be a reception for the campus community at 8:30 a.m. in the Lucas Room.

Speakers will include the presidents of the Staff Council and the student body. The faculty president will present the faculty agenda for 2018-19, and there will be remarks from Chancellor Philip L. Dubois and Provost Joan Lorden.

Also, new members of the faculty and professional staff will be welcomed, and there will be recognition of faculty members granted permanent tenure and those who have been promoted to full professor as well as those who will be starting their 25th year of service to the University. The newest recipient of the Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professor in Teaching will be named, too.

Following University Convocation, there will be a question-and-answer session/general faculty meeting.
