CLAS to honor faculty for teaching excellence at campus celebration

Three College of Liberal Arts & Sciences faculty members will be honored for teaching excellence, during an awards event at 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 28, in Cone University Center, Room 210.

The award winners are:

  • Stanley Schneider, biology, who is the inaugural recipient of the college’s Integration of Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award, which recognizes a tenure-track faculty member
  • Daniel Boisvert, philosophy, recipient of the Full-time Lecturer Award for Teaching Excellence
  • Rodney Stringfellow, languages and culture studies, recipient of the Part-time Lecturer Award for Teaching Excellence.

“We invite the entire UNC Charlotte community, as well as the broader community, to join us as we hold up these faculty members for their teaching excellence,” said Nancy Gutierrez, dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. “These faculty members bring creativity, dedication and energy to the classroom, benefitting our students, their colleagues and the university.”

Department chairs and program directors in the college nominate faculty for these annual awards. The ceremony will recognize all the nominees, in addition to the award recipients.

For the Integration of Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award, the nominees were: Stanley Schneider, biology, and Fumie Kato, languages and culture Studies.

The Full-time Lecturer Award nominees were: Daniel Boisvert, philosophy; Tonya Bates, biology; Daniela Dal Pra, language and culture studies; Kelly Finley, women’s and gender studies; Barbara Presnell, University Writing Program; and Robin Rothberg, ommunication studies.

The nominees for the Part-time Lecturer Award were Mia Eaker and Sally Griffin, University Writing Program; Angela Jakeway and Rodney Stringfellow, languages and culture studies; Beth Mason, philosophy; and Sarah Minslow, English.
