Solar Decathlon team to unveil competition design

The UNC Charlotte Solar Decathlon team will present its solar house design to the public at 4:00 PM, Monday, Sept. 17, at UNC Charlotte Center City. The design is for the 2013 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, an international competition that will be in Irvine, Calif., in October 2013.


Sims to join UNC Charlotte as director of community affairs

Effective Tuesday, Aug. 21, Jeanette Sims will be director of community affairs in the Division of University Advancement.

Her primary responsibility will be to direct programs and initiatives in support of UNC Charlotte’s mission as it strives to address the cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health and social needs of the greater Charlotte region. 


Pereira named Honors College director

Malin Pereira, professor of English and recent department chair, is now executive director of the Honors College.

Cynthia Wolf Johnson, associate provost for academic services, said Pereira’s “scholarly work; passion for teaching, mentoring and research; and innovative, energetic and collaborative approach, will serve her well in this very important position.”

CPCC president receives Distinguished Service Award

He was honored for his contributions to the community and as a leader in education, in particular his efforts to strengthen the ties between Central Piedmont Community College and UNC Charlotte.
 


Kirby appointed director of undergraduate admissions

Effective Aug. 1, Claire Kirby is director of undergraduate admissions. During her seven-year tenure at the University, Kirby has earned progressive promotions since starting as an assistant director of admissions. Most recently, she served as interim director of admissions.
