New Learning and Development Portal launches, training now available

UNC Charlotte has launched a new learning management system, the Learning and Development Portal. Partnering with Cornerstone On Demand, a leading global provider of talent management software, the University has implemented a robust system to further develop, engage and retain top talent.

The Learning and Development Portal will be the go-to place to find and track all the training and development opportunities available to faculty and staff — virtual, face-to-face and online learning — all in one portal.

“We have long recognized the need for a robust learning management system to assign, track, report, manage and underpin the accountability related to employee learning and development,” said Gary Stinnett, associate vice chancellor for Human Resources. “This is a huge step forward given the organizational imperative for developing, retaining and preparing employees for higher competence in current roles, as well as preparing them for future advancement opportunities.”

This new tool will provide learners more control over their own professional development. Faculty and staff can browse for training, register for courses most relevant to their interests and career goals, cancel and reschedule course enrollments, view assigned training and review their comprehensive transcripts. Managers can more easily plan, assign, track and support their staff’s learning and development. Additionally, this consolidated learning portal enables UNC Charlotte to more effectively manage and report on required compliance training such as FERPA, Title IX, safety and others.

The new system replaces the Learning and Registration System and integrates Percipio content. Employees’ training history from the previous system will appear on their learning transcript in the new system. Faculty and staff can access the 2021 learning catalog now on the Learning and Development Portal.

To ensure that everyone understands how to use the new system, Learning and Organizational Development will host live webinars throughout January for learners, managers and instructors. Training dates and times, as well as registration links, can be found on the Learning & Organization Development website. If employees are not available to attend the live training they need, they can visit the Learning and Organizational Development website after Wednesday, Jan. 27, to watch the recorded webinars.
