Tuesday, September 19, 2017

The Dean of Students Office is seeking two student speakers and two bell ringers for UNC Charlotte’s December commencement ceremonies. Faculty and staff are requested to encourage students graduating in December to apply for one of these prestigious honors.

Prospective speakers must submit a copy of their two- to three-minute speech with their applications. Finalists will present their speeches to a selection committee on Friday, Oct. 20. Speakers are encouraged to utilize services provided by the University Speaking Center.

The application deadline is 11:45 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15.

Speakers should represent the University well and should possess good speaking skills, character and school spirit. Bell ringer is an honorable tradition that recognizes two outstanding student leaders who have demonstrated exemplary 49er spirit. All applicants must have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and be in good disciplinary standing.

One speaker and one bell ringer will participate in each commencement ceremony (10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16).
