University continues to monitor Hurricane Irma

Saturday, September 9, 2017

Forecast projections for Hurricane Irma continue to have the storm’s center moving farther west and away from Charlotte.

While there is always a chance for severe weather with a tropical system, the effects in the Charlotte area are not expected to be extreme or widespread. It is likely there will be heavy rain and stronger winds beginning Monday afternoon and continuing into Tuesday.

With the strongest part of the storm moving away from the greater Charlotte region, the University anticipates being on a normal operating schedule Monday. However, UNC Charlotte officials will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the weekend.
