Postdoctoral fellows contribute greatly to the research enterprise of the University. In observance of National Postdoc Appreciation Week, Sept. 18-22, the University has organized various events.
On Monday, Sept. 18, Philip Clifford, nationally recognized for championing career and professional development for Ph.D. scientists, will present “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There” at 10 a.m. in the Bioinformatics Building, Room 105.
“Career Meetup: Beefing up Your LinkedIn Profile” will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Center for Graduate Life (Cone University Center, Room 268). Career Center director Patrick Madsen will facilitate this informal discussion.
For Wednesday, Sept. 20, organizers have scheduled a “Career Meetup: Happy Hour” at 5:30 p.m. at the Wine Vault in the nearby Shoppes at University Place. Career Center director Patrick Madsen will provide tips on how postdocs can market themselves.
A Postdoc Appreciation Social will be 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, in Bistro 49, located in the Popp Martin Student Union. Joan Lorden, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs will be the featured speaker. This event is open only to postdocs and their advisors.
On Friday, Sept. 22, attend a grant writing workshop from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Center for Graduate Life.
A family picnic in the park is set for Saturday, Sept. 23, at Reedy Creek Park, Shelter 6. Postdocs, graduate students and their families are encouraged to meet and mingle with one another as they share their favorite potluck dish.
