Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Thursday’s University Convocation officially begins the 2017-18 academic year. The event, which starts at 9:30 a.m., Aug. 17, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall, will be streamed live via the web; watch on Inside UNC Charlotte or at livestream.uncc.edu.

Speakers will include the student body president and chair of the Staff Council. The faculty president will present the faculty agenda for 2017-18, and there will be remarks from Chancellor Philip L. Dubois and Provost Joan Lorden.

Also, new members of the faculty and professional staff will be welcomed, and there will be recognition of faculty members granted permanent tenure and those who will be starting their 25th year of service to the University. The newest recipient of the Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professor in Teaching will be named, too.

Preceding University Convocation, there will be a reception for the campus community at 8:30 a.m. in the Lucas Room.
