Career Carnival to bring fun and games to Week of Welcome

Monday, August 14, 2017

On Wednesday, Aug. 23, the Barnhardt Student Activity Center food court will transform into a bustling, exciting carnival filled with games, prizes and fair food from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 1,400 UNC Charlotte students participated in last year’s Career Carnival, a free event that the Career Center hosts to kick off the new academic year.

Career Center officials said students can try their hand at classic carnival games, including Hi-Striker, Frog Launcher and Crazy Ball, or play less traditional games like the virtual rollercoaster and Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course (students can compete to win a gift card). In between games, students can snap a picture with Norm, grab some carnival food (think cotton candy and snow cones) and claim a T-shirt prize.

Through the Career Carnival, the center emphasizes fun and the power of connection. In the midst of the event’s fun and games, students can meet with career advisors and employers in an informal way. Representatives from 10 employer sponsors, including Vanguard, MPAY, Northwestern Mutual, Enterprise and Armstrong Transport Group, will be on hand talk with students about job opportunities.
