Annual Green-White Spring game set for Saturday

The Charlotte 49ers football program’s annual Green-White Spring Game will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 22, in Richardson Stadium.

The 49ers Green-White game will pit the offense (white) versus the defense (green) with a modified scoring system. In addition to scoring plays, points will be awarded to the offense for first downs (2), explosive passes of more than 20 yards (2) and explosive runs of more than 10 yards (2). The defense will be awarded points for forcing a turnover (3), recording a sack (2) or tackle for loss (2), forcing a three-and-out (2) and making a stop in the red zone (3). The game is scheduled to span three periods with the coaching staff setting the ball to offer a variety of game scenarios.

After the game, fans will be allowed on field to participate in field goal kicking and blocking tackling dummies and to get autographs from 49ers players and coaches.

The 2017 season begins with the 49ers at Eastern Michigan on Friday, Sept. 1. The 49ers home opener will be Saturday, Sept. 16, against North Carolina A&T.  The C-USA opener will be at FIU on Sept. 30, while Charlotte welcomes Marshall, Saturday, Oct. 7, for the first C-USA home game of the season.  The annual Homecoming Game will be Saturday, Oct. 21, against UAB.
