Dean Hood, assistant head coach for the Charlotte 49ers football team, has accepted a position as special teams coordinator/outside linebackers coach with the University of Kentucky. Hood spent one year as the 49ers' assistant head coach, working primarily with the team's offensive unit as tight ends coach while also serving as the 49ers' special teams coordinator.

"Coach Hood was extremely helpful to us over the past year working with our offense and our special teams," said Lambert, "We are excited for him and this opportunity to coach in the SEC.  We wish him the best and thank him for all he did for our program."

A former defensive coordinator at Wake Forest, Hood joined the 49ers in December 2015 after spending eight years as head coach at Eastern Kentucky.
