Executive Education learning lab to focus on getting to win-win

Monday, February 6, 2017

UNC Charlotte Executive Education will offer the learning lab “Get to the Win-Win: Effective Negotiations” on Thursday, March 30.

Jaime Bochantin, assistant professor of communication studies and organizational science, will lead this daylong professional development opportunity, which will be held at UNC Charlotte Center City. The cost to register is $600 before Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Get to the Win-Win: Effective Negotiations” is designed for anyone who encounters formal or informal negotiations at work or in their daily lives. Attendees will learn strategies, tools and resources to be more effective negotiators.

Most people negotiate dozens of times a day – often approaching negotiations as adversarial undertakings. Bochantin will show participants how, even with slim resources and limited time, negotiation doesn’t have to be grueling. A win-win approach allows both sides to be successful, building trust and reinforcing long-term partnerships.

Bochantin has negotiated peace and labor treaties, helped broker million dollar deals and hammered out high-stakes agreements around the globe. A graduate of DePaul University, she completed a Ph.D. in Communication from Texas A&M University.  Her current research examines work-life/family, stress and well-being, organizational conflict and negotiation, leadership communication and workplace mistreatment including incivility and bullying.

The March 30 hands-on workshop or learning lab will enable participants to practice and hone their negotiation skills through real-world case studies and examples.

UNC Charlotte Executive Education supports the financial, social and environmental goals of the greater region, and Executive Education faculty members integrate research, theory and industry-based expertise to help individuals and organizations accelerate growth.
