UNC Charlotte adds new exam prep course for aspiring HR professionals

A new exam preparation course designed to help career changers and aspiring human resource professionals is now part of UNC Charlotte Continuing Education’s offerings in the field.

“AHR101 - aPHR Certification Exam Preparation Program” will aid individuals who are seeking the credential Associate Professional in Human Resources (HR) from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HCRI). This exam preparation course rounds out the HR-related exam preparation and professional development courses available at UNC Charlotte Center City. The University’s Continuing Education Office also offers the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) exam preparation courses, as well as a Human Resource Certificate Program.

Research indicates that the employment of human resources managers is expected to increase by 9 percent through 2024.

Margaret Rozzi, a veteran HR program director for UNC Charlotte Continuing Education, said, “We aim to prepare our students to be highly competitive in this growing market and getting them ready for certification exams is a big part of being competitive.”

UNC Charlotte Continuing Education has assisted area HR professionals prepare for credentialing exams for more than 15 years.

“Making a career change, or a commitment to a career path, can be challenging but exhilarating, and it is rewarding for us when we can help individuals achieve their goals,” said Rozzi.

The inaugural UNC Charlotte Continuing Education aPHR Certification Exam Preparation Program will begin Wednesday, Feb. 22. Participants will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. for 10 sessions at UNC Charlotte Center City.

Since the mid-1970s, HRCI has offered its award-winning certifications for HR professionals. This new aPHR certification is specifically for people who wish to enter an HR career.
