Sheri Rice, business and planning officer in enrollment management, formally accepted the University Business magazine’s Model of Excellence Award for UNC Charlotte’s 49er Finish Program.

J.D. Solomon, editorial director of University Business, presented the honor during the annual meeting of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, held in Toronto.

The 49er Finish Program, an offering administered by the Office of Adult Students and Evening Services, was cited in the winter 2015 edition of University Business as a “model of excellence” for its “concierge service that caters to a tough demographic: students who dropped out during their senior year.” The article also noted the program has generated $400,000 annually in additional revenue for the University by encouraging individuals who stopped short of their degree to return.

Since the program's inception, more than 700 students have returned to the University to complete their degree.
