At University Convocation on Thursday, Aug. 18, 20 faculty members received a Jefferson Cup in recognition of their promotion to full professor. The Jefferson Cup, designed by Thomas Jefferson, founder of the University of Virginia, included the UNC Charlotte logo, each faculty member’s name, department and the year.
This year’s recipients were Michele Bissiere, languages and culture studies; Larissa Brunner Huber, public health sciences; Will Campbell, music; Howie Fang, mechanical engineering and engineering science; Greg Gbur, physics and optical science; Charles Hutchison, middle, secondary and K-12 education; Joe Kuhns, criminal justice and criminology; Michael Matthews, special education and child development; Gregory Mixon, history; Sangkil Moon, marketing; Ertunga Ozelkan, systems engineering and engineering management; Michael Putnam, reading and elementary education; Tracy Rock, reading and elementary education; Linda Shanock, psychology; Elizabeth Stearns, sociology; Bruce Taylor, reading and elementary education; Mesbah Uddin; mechanical engineering and engineering science ; Mark Wilson, history; Charles Wood, reading and elementary education; and Terry Xu, mechanical engineering and engineering science.
