Potential email scam affecting direct deposit info

UNC Charlotte’s ITS Department is investigating an email scam that has compromised direct deposit information. The initial investigation points toward a phishing email.

Currently, the number of individuals affected is limited, and they are being contacted. However, all employees and students using direct deposit should review their information through my.uncc.edu.

For employees, click the “Direct Deposit” link found under the Banner Self Service section. Employees who notice any unauthorized activity should:

  • Contact their financial institution immediately to safeguard bank accounts.
  • Change their NinerNET password through pwmanager.uncc.edu.
  • Contact the IT Service Desk at 704-687-5500. Modified hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday, July 29; 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 30; noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 31.

For students, click on the “My Student Account” link in the Financial Resources section. Then, select View Direct Deposit Information. Students who notice any unauthorized activity should:

  • Contact their financial institution immediately to safeguard bank accounts.
  • Change their NinerNET password through pwmanager.uncc.edu.
  • Contact the IT Service Desk at 704-687-5500. Modified hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday, July 29; 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 30; noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 31.
