Join the ‘Clean Commute Olympics’

Monday, July 11, 2016

Members of the University community are encouraged to participate in the Charlotte Area Air Awareness Clean Commute Olympics.

This initiative, which runs through Aug. 5, offers weekly prizes for participants who record five clean commutes rather than drive to work. Examples of clean commute alternatives include carpool, vanpool, public transportation, biking, walking, teleworking or working a compressed schedule.

During summer months, people who live and work in the Charlotte area are at a higher risk for exposure to smog and the harmful contaminants associated with air pollution, noted Charlotte Area Air Awareness officials.

To join the “Clean Commute Olympics,” go to the Charlotte Area Air Awareness website and register as an “Olympian.” Log each clean commute through Aug. 5. Weekly prizes will be awarded, along with a grand prize at the contest conclusion.
