Annual Spring Career Expo set for April 10

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

The Career Center’s April 10 Spring Career Expo is expected to be at capacity with 210 organizations offering thousands of full-time jobs, internships and co-ops in a range of industries.

All undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to attend the Spring Career Expo, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, April 10, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. More than 40 industries will be represented at the fair, including advertising, banking, consulting, engineering, government, health care, nonprofit, technology and transportation.  Nearly half of these organizations are interested in recruiting candidates from any major.

Event sponsors Antea Group, Enterprise, Freightliner Custom Chassis, MicroD and Schaeffler will be joined by a diverse group of organizations that includes Ally Financial, Apple, Bissell, CB&I, Federal Reserve Board, Greensboro Fire and Police Departments, Kellogg’s and the Peace Corps.

Graduate and professional programs in law, business and health will be present at the Career Expo.  For students with a specific interest in health fields, the April 17 Health Graduate and Professional Program Fair will bring 50-plus programs to campus.

The Spring Career Expo draws hundreds of alumni back to campus – some as recruiters and some as candidates, according to the Career Center.  In total, the event is expected to draw more than 1,200 student and alumni job seekers.

Based on employer request, professional dress will be required at this year’s expo; candidates may not wear casual clothing (jeans, T-shirts) and are strongly encouraged to wear suits.

Students and alumni attending the event should bring multiple copies of a professional resume and research employers before the event.

During the week leading up to the expo, the University Career Center will offer pre-fair resume critiques.

For additional assistance with job or internship searches, students should consult their major-specific career advisor and utilize the variety of resources the University Career Center has to offer.
