Brandon Dugan, associate professor in the Department of Earth Science at Rice University, will present “Origin and Impacts of Submarine Landslides: From Ripples to Tsunamis” at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, in McEniry Building, Room 117.

A hydrogeologist who couples theory, experiments and models to understand the interactions of fluids and solids in shallow, subsurface flow, Dugan has participated in multiple Integrated Ocean Drilling Program expeditions as a shore-based scientist, shipboard scientist and co-chief scientist. He earned a bachelor's degree in geological engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in geosciences from Penn State.

Dugan’s talk is part of the Consortium for Ocean Leadership Distinguished Lecturer Presentations.
