2012 Employee of the Year nominees named

Seventeen UNC Charlotte staff members are among the nominees for the 2012 Employee of the Year Award; they were nominated by their peers for outstanding service to the University.

Two of the 17 nominees will be named the 2012 Employees of the Year during the annual Staff Awards Luncheon, scheduled for noon to 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5, in the Student Union, Multipurpose Room. Each recipient will receive a check for $2,000. A winner is selected from the categories of employees Subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The FLSA subject nominees are Lori Brown, Lee College of Engineering; Pamela Duff, Facilities Management-Facilities Information Systems; Gary Edwards, Facilities Management-Grounds; Pamela Erickson, Office of Field Experiences; Devin Hatley, Facilities Management-Recycling; Michael Klemmer, Facilities Management-Grounds; Gerard (Jerry) Lecomte II, Police and Public Safety; Warren Monk, Facilities Management-Grounds; Paul Taylor, Facilities Management-Zone 4; Eric Walcott, Facilities Management-Zone 5; and James Williams, Facilities Management-Renovations.

FLSA exempt nominees are Mario (Will) Espin, Office of the Registrar; Arthur Sandy Kohn, Student Union, Activities and Recreation; LouAnn Lamb, Business Services; Beverly Lueke, College of Arts + Architecture; Sam Nixon, College of Education; and Denise (Buffie) Stephens, Public Relations.

All nominees will be invited to the Staff Awards Luncheon as special guests of Chancellor Philip L. Dubois.  The six finalists will dine at his table and will receive an engraved 49er statue.

Employees who would like to attend the Staff Awards Luncheon should complete the luncheon registration form and return it along with a check for $11 to Cindy Edwards or Barbara Greene in the Human Resources Department (King Building, Room 222).
