Final day to visit Rowe Galleries displays featuring guest artists

Event Date:

March 31 is the final day to view exhibits by guest artists Jon Swindler and Amanda Lee, with UNC Charlotte students, on display in the Rowe Arts Galleries.

Swindler is a member of the printmaking and book arts faculty in the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. He holds a B.F.A. from Fort Hays State University and an M.F.A. from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. According to the artist, an essential by-product of his creative activity is an abundance of printed remnants or visual leftovers.  These accumulated failures, incidents and accidents are continually re-printed or recycled, creating unforeseen visual phenomena and fluctuating conceptual circumstances.

The artist is collaborating with UNC Charlotte art students to create a printmaking-based installation in addition to his solo exhibition in the Upper Rowe Galleries.

Lee, a Seattle-based artist, is the 2015 McColl Center for Art + Innovation/UNC Charlotte Visiting Artist. During her residency at UNC Charlotte, Lee has developed a course in collaboration with professor Erik Waterkotte. The project culminates in “Praxis,” an exhibition of work by Lee and print media students.

Praxis in this case maintains two meanings: acting on one's ideals and the practice of a skill or an art. The result is a stunning collection of ephemera and print media that raises the awareness of a range of personal passions.
