Kristin Newby, a professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Duke University Medical Center, will present “Food and Precision Medicine in the Context of the MURDOCK Study” at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, in Cone University Center, Room 113.
Newby is the principal investigator for the MURDOCK study in Kannapolis, which is a long-term study by Duke University to identify linkages across major diseases and disorders in order to defeat some of today’s leading causes of illness and death. The MURDOCK Study has enlisted the participation of more than 12,000 residents in the Cabarrus County/Kannapolis region and aims to investigate health outcomes by combining information from biomarkers, geo-referencing and other data sources.
This April 5 lunch workshop is free and open to the campus community; however, RSVPs are requested by Friday, March 31. The Center for Professional and Applied Ethics and N.C. Biotech are cosponsoring this event.
