Data scientist to discuss ‘SOPHI’

Shannon Schlueter, a UNC Charlotte data scientist, will present “SOPHI: An Open Platform for Data Science at UNC Charlotte” at noon, Friday, Aug. 26, in Woodward Hall, Room 338.

SOPHI, the System for Observation of Populous and/or Heterogeneous Information, is an integrated data and analytics platform developed by the Data Science Initiative (DSI) of UNC Charlotte. SOPHI addresses a primary mission of the DSI by providing access to emerging technologies in the field of data science. The primary goal of the SOPHI platform is to provide an effective solution for the management and efficient use of data (big or small, structured or unstructured, simple or complex).

Schlueter, who has a Ph.D. in bioinformatics from Iowa State University, joined the University in 2009.
