Up to 60 UNC Charlotte rising seniors will have an opportunity to gain research experience this year through a 10-week summer research program funded by the Charlotte Research Scholars (CRS).

CRS is a summer research program for high-achieving students to gain research experience and professional development in their field of interest. Scholars receive one-on- one, faculty-guided research training and participate in professional development sessions to prepare them for graduate school and a future research career.

The program culminates in the Summer Research Symposium where participants will have an opportunity to present their research. The Symposium is July 26 in the Student Union.

The summer program is open to rising seniors from all academic disciplines. The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 24, and the program will run Monday, May 22, through Friday, July 28. To be eligible, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 and a demonstrated desire to do independent research.

Scholars will receive a $4,000 fellowship for participation in the program. More information is on the web.

CRS is supported by UNC Charlotte’s Office of Academic Affairs, the Charlotte Research Institute and the Duke Endowment Special Initiatives Fund.
